Indonesia Wins 2-1, Malaysia Lifts the Trophy
Indonesia Wins 2-1 in the second leg, Malaysia Lifts the Trophy because its 3-0 win in the first leg.
Congrats to Malaysian team. Bravo to Indonesian Timnas who showed the fighting and sporting spirit in the second leg.
Despite losing 2-1 in the second leg in Jakarta on Wednesday, Malaysia secured the 2010 Asean Football Federation (AFF) Cup with an aggregate victory of 4-2 over Indonesia.
The Indonesian national football squad, or Merah Putih (Red White) as it is known in the country, was looking to get a boost from its home crowd in a tightly packed Bung Karno Stadium, which reportedly hosted over 100,000 fans despite its official 85,000 capacity.
With the odds against Indonesia after its Sunday 3-0 loss in Kuala Lumpur in the first leg, Malaysian striker Mohd Safee opened the night’s scoring on the 54th minute, which practically sealed the team’s victory as Indonesia would have to score five goals in around 35 minutes to overcome their aggregate deficit. Malaysia crush Indonesia 3-0 in AFF Cup Final 2010
Malaysia beats Indonesia with big margin of 3-0 in the first leg of AFF Suzuki Cup final 2010 on Bukit Jalil stadium last night (26/12/10).
Both team will meet again on Wednesday 29 December 2010 in GBK (Gelora Bung Karno) stadium Jakarta for the second and final leg which will decide who deserve to lift the first trophy for either team.
Indonesia will have to win by big margin at the second leg of 4-0 or 5-1 if they want to be the champion. While Malaysia will only need a draw to lift the first trophy for them.
