Wow, I didn’t expect that the news of Ahmadiyya Indonesia has gone international!

LOL, u should have to browse more about international affairs. This issue is very interesting for them, because this is a very successful way to destroy Islam from the inside. And u know why they wanna destroy and discredit Islam? Because only Islam which can mess their plan to control this world.. Indonesian people should aware about this big picture and not only arguing about smaller issue like Ahmadiyya (well, Indonesia needs to find the solution about this).. But as we can see nowadays, they succeed to fail us seeing what actually happens out there buy giving us this sensitive issue.. Anyone has same thought with me here? Lets share..

bener banget bro. berita dari mereka ga adil.

oh ya, disemua negara muslim ahmadiyyah dilarang. diindonesia aja mereka bebas hidup

          setuju bro….
klo kata ku sih pemerintahnya ja kurang da tndk lanjutnya yg serius ma masalah itu

    Peace my Indonesia

  3. Wazeen

What I understand from this case is the fact that “some people” use the ahmadiyya issue to withdraw people’s attention from the rising of oil price and to defend their power as well.

Banyak negara muslim melarang gerakan ahmadi. Arab Saudi larang anggota ahmadiyah melaksanakan haji.

wah.. pusing kalo mikirin ahmadiya. soalnya jadi inget kejadian monas kemarin.
soalnya ikut pusing kalo ada kejadian kekerasan kayak kemarin.

A puzzling affair. A government that compromises between the freedom of thought and expression of an apparently weird minority and the seemingly hurt feelings of an aggressive group, by leaning to the last one. Not a very satisfactorily solution. Not if you have to maintain law and order and not if you have freedom of religion in your constitution.

There is no choice but to second your quite sensible plea to discuss differences of opinion in a civilized way.

But what bothers me most is why time after time conflicts ( which I presume more often then not actually are of a socio-economic nature, like in most societies) in Indonesia seem to be fought along religious lines. And why it sometimes seems to be so difficult to grant others with deviant convictions -that is deviant from one’s own sacred hardcore beliefs and presumed absolute truths- the same amount of tolerance and respect that one claims for oneself?

Even if Wazeen is right – and religious issues are actually used by some Dark Vaders to wag the dog – I can’t quite understand what makes religion to such a useful kind of inflammable material for such purposes.

Dear Colson, I think another post of mine i wrote here -> http://fatihsyuhud.com/2007/09/03/crime-and-religion/ should address a bit of your question

      1. colson

Well, ‘crime and religion’ does indeed answer part of my questions. I can see the psychological or social-psychological processes which, on an individual and even political level, in a cynical way makes it worthwhile to use religious concepts for egoistic, profane or political purposes.

What remains a mystery to me is what it is that makes these concepts so suitable for fighting hot conflicts. I know a nationalist like Nasser used them also – but without putting them in the front line. Religious concepts are and have been used by Rove/Bush in the US and by the Christian Democrats (prime minister Balkenende) in my home country also – to gather votes, but also without putting them in the political front line. Without being confrontational or intolerant towards other denominations that is.

The other question which tickles me is whether the Indonesian government by its decision proved its wisdom (stability has been restored)or a flagrant violation of its responsibility (lack of protection of the constitution and giving in to violence).

I’m afraid that in the short run the first may have been achieved. But in the long run the consequences may be dear.

What if the question is reversed: why people in the West regard religion as less significant than those in the East / or any developing countries? the following light post might be of a bit relevant

government should investigates monas tragedy clearly

  9. M

    But Mas Fatih,

do you agree or disagree with Ahmadiyah?
    why?
and if you were to be adviser for the Minister of Religion (or perhaps you are), what would you do?

This ain’t no tricky questions, just an honest curiosity.
