Arctic to be Ice Free in Summer Within Ten Years?

Surely it’s very worrying prediction. Imagine if the place where you’re staying now are full of water. Flood everywhere. You can’t even go to floating market without a boat. via NG

The Arctic Ocean could be largely ice free in summer within a decade, scientists announced today—the latest in a stream of wildly varying predictions.

This past spring scientists had taken measurements along a 280-mile (450-kilometer) route across the northern part of the Beaufort Sea. Most of the ice, they found, was young and thin.

“With a larger part of the region now first-year ice, it is clearly more vulnerable,” expedition leader and sea-ice expert Peter Wadhams, og the University of Cambridge in England, said in a statement.

With our this-planet-will-always-be-OK attitude, no wonder we’ll get drowned very soon. We deserve this, how can we be that surprised? I think I should take swimming lesson to stay alive so I can swim whenever big floods or high tides hit us.
