I once read a series of tips from an inernet marketer that a professional blogger (or bloggers who intend to go pro) should use a paid domain especially dot com (.com) and forget about the other types of domain such as .net, .web.id, info. I think it’s pretty sensible kind of tip to give. Most people associate websites with .com since it’s the most frequently used domain in the virtual world.

I mean nothing against free services like co.cc but it’s true that people judge our professionalism by domain. Free domains just won’t give us that. Let’s assume we’re mainly blogging for money, buying a domain enables us to monetize our blogs better. That’s what I quote from John Chow’s ebook.

#couldn’t agree more. the facts, however, there are still many bloggers, newbie and old ones alike, who tend to use free services. that’s why free services still exist and even grow. business are always based on supply and demand.
