Bomb in Pesantren Umar ibn Khattab Bima NTB

There’s a bomb explosion in Pesantren Bima, NTB. A Pondok Pesantren as I wrote here consist of 3 types: pesantren affiliated to Nahdlatul Ulama, to Muhammadiyah, and to Salafi/Wahabi radical Islam such as pesantren Umar ibn Khattab in Bima, NTB. The last type is in minority but they post a threat to national security and to pesantren as a whole.

NU and Muhammadiyah organisation must go hand in hand to fight against this kind of pesantren and must lobby the government to ever exist in Indonesia.

National Police spokesman Insp. Gen. Anton Bachrul Alam said on Tuesday that police had arrested 10 possible suspects following the explosion at the Umar bin Khatab pesantren in Sanolo village, Bolo subdistrict.

A spokesman for the West Nusa Tenggara Police, Adj. Comr. Sudjoko, said the explosion occurred at about 3:30 p.m. on Monday, killing a man identified as Firdaus, the school’s treasurer.“

The preliminary finding is that the blast was caused by the detonation of a homemade bomb,” he told journalists in the provincial capital, Mataram.
