Cancel Paypal Payment Subscription

Update 16 October 2009:

I’ve just cancelled a subscription payment to a webhosting provider. The process seems a bit different with the one mentioned below, there’s some changes.

Here’s how I did the cancellation process (as per October 2009):

1. After login, history -> basic search -> payment sent

2. There are list of companies or parties you sent money to. Click “details” at the Company name you make a payment subscription -> Transaction details >

2. You’d find this -> Subscription Payment Sent (Unique Transaction ID #XXXXXXXXXXXX)
In reference to: S-XXX26022UU1XXXXXX (link) ->click the “reference to” link -> click “Cancel Subscription” (at the bottom of the page) > Click “Cancel” again to confirm -> This subscription has been cancelled (done).

I subscribe to Paypal monthly payment to make payment to a particular webhosting services each month (Hostgator). The thing is it’s does not work. Even after I make payment, the system in the webhosting still email me to pay the payment due for this month or I will get fine. In another word, I have to pay twice!

So, I wanted to cancel the sickening subscription. The problem is it’s not easy to find the right button and tab to cancel it in the Paypal my account. I got through it after several trial.

The following is the official tutorial to cancel (unsubscribe) from Paypal payment subscription.

How do I cancel a subscription?

Question :
Answer :
You can cancel a subscription up until the day of the next scheduled payment. Remember, this cancels all future scheduled payments for that subscription. Step no. 3 & 4 are no longer applied in current Paypal (they obviously need to update their user manual). But certainly it’s better than nothing at all:
