Cannot Open Firefox

Many times I experience this problem: I cannot open the Firefox. I double click the Firefox, or right-click it -> open, the Firefox is still not open.

I have been googling and found so many solution, I tried many of them from remove, reinsall, upgrade and downgrade and reinstall again. All are not working. Still the Firefox browser is hidden it only appears in the CPU processes when you hold Shift+ Ctrl and press Esc. When reinstalling I also remove all the previous setting, still didnot work.

Until I found a simple solution from this thread written by John.Wilkinson which works like charm for me:

First, try safe mode. Not Windows Safe Mode, but Firefox’s. With Firefox closed, press Windows + R and type in firefox.exe -safe-mode (with the space). If it launches normally the issue is with an installed extension, which can be identified through the process of elimination by disabling them one at a time and restarting Firefox.

Probable Causes and solutions:

• Incompatible adds-on -> disable them
• Corrupted Firefox files -> remove and reinstall
• A registry problem. Somehow some of the registry values got changed to things that wouldn’t let things like Firefox and Adobe Reader work -> read the microsoft support here to fix it (it’s advanced setting, not recommended if you’re not expert in this stuff).
