English Media in Indonesia
Posted on November 2, 2009
There are not many English-speaking media (newspapers, magazine, portal) in Indonesia. In fact, they are very few compared, for example, to its neighboring countries like Malaysia and Singapore.
The followings are the lists of Indonesia media in English:
- The Jakarta Post
- The Jakarta Globe
- Antara Indonesia News Agency (English version)
- Kompas.com (English version)
- Vivanews.com (English version)
- Tempo Interactive (English version)
Let me know, via the comment box, if you know of other English speaking media in Indonesia other than those already mentioned.

I’m often read Jakarta Post
Jakarta Post is my favorite…
Hei me too, my favorite is Jakarta Post
I once read “Hello” magazine, printed and distributed in a local scope, only around Central Java, I guess. Its targeted audience is teenagers or students wanting to boost their English. Though the taste isn’t really native (you know what I mean, smells like a hybrid Indonesian and English. Awkward but better than nothing)
These are some other I just discovered after a brief googling:
1. Banjarmasin Post
2. Surat Kabar (business)–bilingual
3. Pos Kupang
4. Bali Times
5. Suara Merdeka (bilingual)
6. Surabaya Post

Hello magazine? Is this magazine still exist?
I really miss, It’s a long time ago
It still does exist and survive up to this second, as far as I know, pal. Miss it? me too
2 daily newspapers is pretty good, don’t you think? Especially given that so few people speak English. I find the English language media to be very good.
Terima kasih atas informasinya semoga bermanfaat bagi semua blogger Indonesia.
