The famous free sub-Domain provider CO.CC has been discontinued totally since November 12, 2012. You will not able to create a new account or login to the existing account you have created previously. All domain that has been created before are also disappeared.

There are no official reasons why CO.CC services was stopped. Buat I guess they are running out of funds and nobody or company else were interested to acquire it.

I am still a bit fortunate, however, that I still got referral payment in November 2, 2012. I never expect that those affiliate fee was the last one. On September 2012 I sent a letter to co.cc admin protesting why they so late in sending referral payment for about two months. No answer came. It’s until November 2 the final payment was sent and a few days after that they closed down the entire site.

So, as for as co.cc affiliate program goes, it’s not scam at all. During the golden days it paid regularly.

In her official website, she points out that she is the one of the rare women who even can have four rare characters at the same time: beauty, brain, behaviour and blessed.

She might be right in her self-depiction about the first two: beauty and brain. As a member of DPR (Indonesia’s MP/lawmakers) and the ruling party’s Partai Demokrat’s elites she should be brainy enough to get there and to be able to stick in the policitians circle. But behaviour? Wait a second. If behavior means honesty and integrity, her self-proclaim as a good behaviour women means nothing but wishful thinking. As yesterday the prosecutor has indicted him for 20 years imprisonment for alleged corruption.

“What the defendant did by receiving money from [Muhammad Nazaruddin’s] Permai Group is against… the 1999 Law on Corruption Eradication,” says Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) prosecutor Agus Salim said in his opening remarks before the Anti-Corruption Court as quoted by The Jakarta Globe.

Angelina allegedly participated in a bid-rigging scheme to ensure that the construction contracts for a South East Asian Games athletes’ village were awarded to Permai Group, a company owned by Nazaruddin that has been implicated in numerous corruption cases.

Angelina Sondakh faces three big different corruption charges that could make her stay in jail for life. Fajar daily reports:

Dakwaan pertama, Perbuatan terdakwa merupakan tindak pidana sebagaimna diatur dalam pasal 12 huruf a jo. Pasal 18 Undang-undnag Nomor 31tahun 1999 tentang pemberantasan Tindak Pidana Korupsi Sebagaimana telah diubah dengan Undang-undang Nomor : 20 Tahun 2011 tentang perubahan atas Undang-undang Nomor 31 tahun 1999 tentang Pemberantasan Tindak Pidana Korupsi jo. Pasal 64 ayat (1) KUHP

Dakwan kedua, “Perbuatan terdakwa merupakan tindak pidana sebagaimna diatur dalam pasal 5 ayat (2). Pasal 5 ayat (1) huruf a jo. Pasal 18 uu no 31 tentang pemberantasan tindak pidana korupsi sebagaimna telah diubah dengan Uu no 20 tahun 2001 tentang perubahan atas UU 31 tahun 1999 tentan pemberantasan tindak pidana korupsi jo. Pasal 64 ayat (1) KUHP

Dakwaan ketiga, “Perbuatan terdakwa merupakan tindak pidana sebagaimna diatur dalam pasal 11 jo. Pasal 18 uu no 31 tentang pemberantasan tindak pidana korupsi sebagaimna telah diubah dengan Uu no 20 tahun 2001 tentang perubahan atas UU 31 tahun 1999 tentan pemberantasan tindak pidana korupsi jo. Pasal 64 ayat (1) KUHP

Angie, as she’s popularly called, is just one among many corrupt politicians and officials in Indonesia. Corruption practices in Indonesia is so massive from top to bottom that people with real honesty and dignity are reluctant and shame to be a government official (PNS – pegawai negeri sipil) because one you are there you will be or have to be part of them. It is no different between Indonesia during the Suharto’s era (Orba) and now in the era of Reformasi when Indonesians enjoy freedom and democracy which logically should create a lot better people to run this country.

The Economist put it best about Indonesia’s post Suharto situation:

… despite being 13 years removed from the fall of Indonesian dictator Suharto’s corrupt regime in 1998, opportunistic government officials, lawmakers and businessmen continue to collude on the awarding of state contracts, budget funds, big business deals, and even tax breaks in exchange for a piece of the action. This is an embarrassment for the world’s third-largest democracy and a leading emerging economy.

KPK and MK

Many Indonesians who have foreign friends or often make a trip or two to outside Indonesia don’t have a proud feeling when talk about Indonesia since they feel nothing to be proud of expect two: KPK (Komisi Pemeberantasan Korupsi – Corruption Eradication Commission) and MK (Mahkamah Konstitusi – Constitutional Court). Both institituons are the best invention of Indonesia’s Reformasi and so far the two institution has done Indonesians proud. They both represent Indonesian’s hopes towards the better Indonesia ahead.

Twenty Eleven theme is a good nice looking theme. It’s a default theme for WordPress version 3.0 and above. I use it for my Bahasa Indonesia’s Kumpulan Buku A. Fatih Syuhud. The minus point of this theme is the sidebar not showing on a page or a single post. So, what you put on these single post or pages will not show to the reader who come from Google search which is directed to the single post or page.

There are some solutions though. One through plugin and another through creating a child theme which is not supposed to be easy if you are just a beginner in php/html things.

USING TWENTY ELEVEN PLUGINS

The easiest way to show the sidebar in Twenty Eleven Theme is by using Twenty Eleven Theme Extensions. With this plugin you have the choises to:

Add the widget sidebar to all pages, and single-post pages.

Optionally center the navigation links at the top of single-post pages with a sidebar.

Adjust the alignment of sidebar widget titles.

Automatically turn sticky posts into single-line headlines to alert your readers of something important.

And many other features

Here’s what you need to do to install this plugin:

Login to your self-hosted WordPress blog/website.

Plugins -> Add New

On search box, write: Twenty Eleven Theme Extensions

It should be shown in the first result ->

Click Install Now

Click Activate Plugin.

HOW TO CUSTOMIZE TWENTY ELEVEN THEME EXTENSIONS

To customize it is simple as follows:

Click Appearance-> Theme Extensions

You have many choices to check or uncheck do whatever you want.

Click Save Changes if you are done.

Optionally center the navigation links at the top of single-post pages with a sidebar.
Adjust the alignment of sidebar widget titles.
Automatically turn sticky posts into single-line headlines to alert your readers of something important.
the default height of the banner image in the header.
Add custom CSS styles for your site safely, in a place that won’t be overwritten when you update WordPress or Twenty Eleven.
Modify twelve individual theme colors directly from the Theme Options admin page.
If you want to add your own color settings, now you can with the moz_theme_custom_colors filter.
Access the Theme Options and Theme Extensions pages directly from the admin menu bar on your home page.
Any child themes using the template twentyeleven have all the Theme Extensions available to them.

HOW TO SHOW THE SIDEBAR IN PAGES WITHOUT PLUGINS

You can show the sidebar in pages by editing manually every pages (not posts) as follows:

After login to your admin -> click Pages ->

Click Page you want to edit. Example, About page

In Page Attribute -> Template -> pick Sidebar Template

Click Update. Done.

Do it repeatedly if you have more than one Pages.

There is no practical way to show the sidebar in the single page except using the plugin above. But you may try some tricks written by: Bart, and Peter.

Matthew Isaac Cohen, as he describes himself in his Blogger blog, is a Professor of International Theatre at Royal Holloway, University of London. The reason why he is picked as Blogger Indonesia of the week this time around is because of his another unlikely part-time profession: as a shadow puppeteer. Yes, he is one of those rare foreign dalang who are interested in Javanese art of wayang kulit.

His interest in wayang stems from his “research interests in Indonesian performing arts and traditions of puppetry around the world” as he further said in his blog intro.

Many interesting reports he made on his blog about Indonesian art he saw or perform himself such as this post written on August 8:

Yesterday afternoon (8 August) I attended the Gladhi Resik or Dress Rehearsal for West Java’s delegation to the Kraton Festival Nusantara. This is a biennial celebration of Indonesia’s courtly cultures – pomp and circumstance, humourless speeches on the greatness of tradition, occasionally interesting art works.

… The afternoon concluded with the handing out of charity baskets to the poor (who also attended the dances and procession) and a buka bersama meal.

A reporter from RRI interviewed me about my thoughts about Indonesia culture today and specifically the role the kraton plays in contemporary society.I tried to be as diplomatic in my responses.

Interestingly, he really is serious about being a dalang. So much so that he got some appreciation and awards. In another blog in WordPress.com, he told us about his Kanda Buwana an honorary name he received from Sultan Abdul Gani of the royal court of Kacirebonan in Cirebon, West Java. He also received a royal title from the sultan, Kyai Ngabehi, roughly the equivalent of a knighthood, for services rendered to puppetry and traditional culture.

The purpose of his blogging is “to report on all Indonesian performing arts – folk, classical, popular and modern – as well as visual culture on occasion.” This is the thing that we, academicians as well as students, are lacking: to spend a little time a day to report what one is doing, researching and observing through blogging. We underestimate the important of this free publishing tools. Instead we tend to be more active in such social media as Facebook and Twitter all of which are unsearchable. Meaning, your thoughts you have written will only be read by person you know i.e. who follow you whichs are not necessarily intrested in it. The writing in blog, however, will be read by both your friend and people who are interested in those topic through Google search.

May be, we might switch the trend a little bit by blogging more and facebooking or tweeting less as shown by Matthew.

——————

Note about Blogger of the Week

After long interval, I restart the BOW (Blogger of the Week) feature of this blog. I hope it can be updated more regularly from now on. Also, this feature will be opened both for English and Indonesian speaking blog which talk about Indonesia or Indonesian culture written either by Indonesian or non-Indonesian.

If you have a good blog with original content please tell me about it here.

Envy is humane. It’s been there inside the heart by default since you’re born. Envy is not bad as far as you can control it and use it as a trigger to motivate you work harder and smarter. It can backfire against you, if you let it run on its way.

Since, success is not as the result of hardworking alone. Various factors contribute to a success or failure including, but not limited to, right strategy, good plan, deep vision. All in all, smart is the key along side the hardwork.

You must have known the biggest news all these few days: that Muammar Qaddafi the Libya’s dictator who ruled the country for 42 years was dead and was killed and apparently tortured.

He had been torturing some of his people during his uncontested rule. Power tends to corrupt your mind. To dictatorize you. To cruelize you. That happens not only to Qaddafi. This also happens to people–the Libyan fighters– who have the chance to see him hiding in the drainage tunnel. When the people has the power to do whatever they like to do to Qaddafi, they become cruel and sadistic to him just as him to them.

That is the power of power. Unless, you can control you mind. And there’s someone watch over your footstep.

That’s what I was saying to some audience this morning. I feel that what I preached found the echoes in what I’ve been doing so far to some extent.

There are some area where I feel so stupids for not having a clear vision of what I’ve been, are, will be doing. I think it’s not so late to make the change. First, make a careful, thorough and clear cut vision on those “things”. Second, do it based on those blueprint.

Hope, I can make it sooner than later.

Is religion cruel and drive someone to resort to violence instead of peace? Yes, an atheist who are bored to be religious might say.

One should not forget that an urge to go to violence is here within one’s heart. And human has a tendency to justify whatever one does to hide one’s true intention. And what the most legitimate reasons other than the reason of religion?

Hence, history witnessed the religion’s based ware in the Europe. Now, many terrorists, who claim to be Muslim, wage the war against anyone who doesn’t accept their ideology.

Anyone who cannot make peace with himself will always try to wage violence with or against others to satisfy his lust of doing violence acts. With or without the name of religion.

I always believe that we should simplify life instead of making it complicated.

We see many things before us that are required to be done. And we have identified which one is the all important and which one are not substantial. Do the all important things and leave the unnecessary things behind. We cannot entertain and make everyone happy all the time. In the end of the day, we are alone who are going to face consuequences: for the better of the worse.
