Actually, our neighbors such as Malaysia and Singapore have already had their Google news. Indonesia is a bit late.
It seems Google treats Indonesia not as important country as its neighbors including in terms of Google Adsense supported language countries where Thailand was a way ahead of Indonesia in getting Adsense for Content. Up till now, Adsense only supports Adsense for Search for Indonesian.
With Google Warta, is it a little hint Google wants to give Indonesian Adsense publishers that Adsense for content in Indonesia is coming soon?

I dont understand why google treats indonesia as not as important as thailand or malaysia. There are more than 250 million people who live here. Its absolutely a huge market in the future. Am i missing something or what?
It’s not about how large a country is in quantity but how many percents of people in a country who are internet literate and use the Internet on a regular basis as an integral part of their daily life.Why should Google bother investing its funds for something with so little prospect?
There must be a sound reason to explain why Google took such a seemingly ‘illogical’ and ‘weird’ action.
I think Indonesian must stop assuming that being a nation with so many citizens and lots of natural resources does automatically secure its position once and for all. We think we’re strong, but we don’t even have ten airplanes to monitor the whole archipelago and protect it from intruders. We think we’re rich, but we’re running out of logs, gasoline, and other unrenewable sources to sell to illegal foreign buyers.
Malaysia, S’pore, Thailand are far smaller in terms of population but they’re a lot sexier to Google, economically speaking. They’re playing more economically strategic roles than Indonesia, I guess. So stop blaming this on Google and try to get to know ourselves. Google is not operated by a bunch of idiots who ridiculously neglect a golden chance to invest something profitable, is it? So what’s wrong with Indonesia? Something is so wrong with us that Google even looked down on us.
And we should think more about how many people in this republic can get easy access to the Internet. You think they’re many? Compared to the quarter billion population we have now,Internet users are just few percents. Internet users are still exclusive. No matter how rich someone is, if s/he lives in an area where no phone lines or cellular signals can be found or detected, s/he still lives in a stone age. How fast is our internet connection? Not even close to the lowest speed those providers have promised us. And that is on Java, the main center of economy. And why does the government keep suspending the launching of Wimax when we witness first hand how slow our 3G, HSDPA connection is?
With these facts found, why should we be surprised to learn the above news?
