Google Voice without Phone Number

Google Voice ‘Lite’ — No New Number Required

Now Google is hoping to lure more users by offering them a small, but useful, subset of Google Voice features — no new number required.

Specifically, the company says that consumers will be able to replace their cellphone’s voice mail service with Google Voice’s online alternative. That will allow users to play back their messages online or read them on the Web. They will be able forward them to their e-mail in-box or receive them on a mobile device via text message. And of course, they’ll be able to save them, search them and forward them to others.
