Latest Post Title as Email Subject in Feedburner Newsletter

feedburner newsletterHow to add post title as email subject in FeedBurner email subscriptions sent to your blog subscribers.

By default, Feedburner newletter subject title is based on the title of your Feedburner’s feed. For example, if my Feedburner’s name for this blog is Blogger Indonesia, then all subject email which come to my subscribers will be Blogger Indonesia. Not the latest post title. This in turn will discourage your subscribers to come to your latest post.

You can change that setting, and making the latest post as the email subject of the newsletter.

Here’s the simple steps.

  1. After login to your Feedburner account -> Publicize -> Email Branding
  2. At the Email Subject/Title’s box, enter this code-> ${latestItemTitle}
  3. Save. And you’re done. (See Picture 1)

Now, your Feedburner’s newsletter subscribers will know right away the title of your latest post just by looking at the Email subject. Hopefully, it’ll motivate them to visit your blog every time you write a new article.

Additional tips:
If you have two or more items in the update of the day, adding ${n} shows the total number of items, and ${m} shows the number of items beyond the latest.

Add the ${n} code in the box after you check “Change Subject when an email has 2 or more items” (See picture 2)

Examples
Fatihsyuhud.com: ${latestItemTitle}
Fatihsyuhud.com: “${latestItemTitle}” plus ${m} more
Fatihsyuhud.com (in this message: ${n} new items)

    Can you add the subscriber number of each day in your feed-burner stats and get the total number of subscribers to your blog? Like if I have 32, 44, 52, 55 subscribers in 4 days does that mean I have 32+44+52+55 new subscribers or does the numbers of each day include people who have already subscribed to your blog? Is each subscriber counted only the first time they request for a feed or every time and does the numbers of each day indicate ” New” subscribers to your blog? Please explain.

  4. Can’t seem to find an application that integrates RSS feeds very well. Ideally I’m looking for something that posts the title of my new blog post on my wall feed or in some way indicates on my wall that I’ve update my blog. The default mechanism Facebook uses to import feeds just adds updates as Notes and pushes them off to the side. Ideas?

  6. My friends and I are trying to post a podcast on iTunes. We’ve created a feed using feedburner.com and we’ve successfully created a feed, but how do we post the podcast on the feed in order to get it onto iTunes? Or do we do something completely different? Thanks
