The producer and filmmakers of the upcoming comedy film “Menculik Miyabi” should be very happy with the controversy surrounding its female player Maria ‘Miyabi’ Ozama’s controversy. It’s a free promotion to a movie yet to be made. AFP reports
Filmmakers in Muslim-majority Indonesia on Monday defied condemnation by clerics, saying they would stick to their plans to fly out a top Japanese porn star to act in a local comedy.
Muslim leaders have blasted plans to bring out 23-year-old erotic film megastar Maria Ozawa, popularly known as Miyabi, to play herself in the upcoming film “Menculik Miyabi” (Kidnapping Miyabi).
The opposition comes not only from clerics (Indonesian, ulama, kyai), but also from some Muslim organisation both the well-known hard-liner like FPI as reported by the Jakarta Post
Dozens of members of the Islam Defenders Front (FPI) rallied in front of Maxima Pictures production house in Mangga Dua, North Jakarta, on Friday afternoon after the mass prayer, demanding that Miyabi be removed from the film.
“We reject Miyabi’s visit! She must not be allowed into Indonesia. If she comes here, we are ready to die fighting to cancel her visit,” FPI West Jakarta head Umar Alatas told members during the protest.
or those who are known as moderate Muslim like Nahdlatul Ulama (NU)
There will always be the defenders for her coming as well, like these women activists and hence the controversy.
For me, agree or disagree is humane. We are entitled to whatever opinion we have provided we express it in a civilized way. That’s the way we should live in this world; giving space to others just like we want others do to us.

She looks hot, actually. But her job background does create a real mess. Wish she had another better job to do.
I was wondering what will happen if she has enough guts to visit a country full of porn condemners (and porn enjoyers, never deny that!) like Indonesia. Will FPI keep its words to keep Miyabi stay away from Indonesian earth? If they can, how?
And I really want to know what action our newly elected president SBY is about to take? I mean, the whole controversy is damn interesting to me…haha..
Indonesia is a country full of paradox. It’s the biggest moslem nation where we can find prostitutes and brothels as easily as clerics and mosques or see veiled ladies as easily as scantily clad women.
I think it should miyabi film in Indonesia, although the MUI, NU, FPI prevented.!
Because the Indonesian state has not become an Islamic state
And anyway, she’s here not to take part in a porn movie or something like that, so I can’t see any sound reason to refuse her coming here. She won’t be naked and still clothed in the movie so why should there be some unnecessary worry like now? Besides, not all Indonesians know she’s actually famous for her erotic movies.
And if the opposing group is really faithful to ISlamic values and teaching, I think they know our prophet Muhammad never boycotted or prevent a guest from coming to his house or territory even the guest is obviously an enemy to Islam and potentially poses threat towards moslems. I think it is moslem clerics’ job to be able to persuade Miyabi to leave her disgraceful job. And the antipathy attitude FPI has stated just proves how shallow their understanding on Islamic values and teaching. Radicalism and violence aren’t part of Islam, I’m pretty sure.
