Pesantren Ulama Condemns Terrorism as Unislamic
The chairman of Pondok Pesantren Nurul Iman Al-Asriyah Bogor, Habib ibn Mahdi Saqqaf states, terrorism and any action which use violence to achieve a purpose is contrary to the teachings of Islam.
“Terrorism and the use of violent means, is not in accordance with Islamic teachings,” said Habib Saqqaf bin Mahdi, in Bogor, on Friday (8/10/10) as reported by Media Indonesia newspaper.
Habib Saqqaf bin Mahdi merupakan pimpinan Pesantren Al-Asriyah Nurul Iman, yang terletak di Desa Warujaya, Kecamatan Parung, Kabupaten Bogor, Jawa Barat.
Saqqaf Habib ibn Mahdi is the leader of Pesantren Al-Asriyah Nurul Iman, which is located in the village of Warujaya, Parung subdistrict, Bogor regency, West Java. Pesantren Al-Asriyah Nurul Iman stands on an area of 180 hectares, home to 18,000 students who come from various corners of the Indonesia’s archipelago.
Menurut Habib Saqqaf bin Mahdi, apa yang dilakukan para teroris dalam mewujudkan misi yang mereka yakini sebagai misi dakwah atau misi jihad, tidak sesuai dengan ajaran Islam. According to Habib Saqqaf bin Mahdi, what the terrorists has been doing in achieving the mission that they believe to be the mission of preaching or mission of jihad, not in accordance with Islamic teachings. “Islam is a religion that teaches kindness and gentleness. Islam is present to bring blessing not only for his people or mankind, but for the universe,” said Habib Saqqaf.
Dikatakannya, seseorang yang memahami ajaran Islam dengan baik dan menginternalisasi semangat luhur yang terkandung di dalamnya, ia tidak akan pernah terjebak melakukan tindak terorisme dan berbagai bentuk kekerasan lainnya. He said that, one who understands Islam well and internalize the noble spirit contained in it, will never get caught doing acts of terrorism and various forms of violence. “People who understand Islam can not do terrorism and any acts of violence whatsoever,” said Habib Saqqaf.
Habib Saqqaf reveals, he objected to attempts from some corners to associate terrorism with Islam. “Terrorism is not Islam, because Islam does not recognize terrorism. Islam teaches peace, harmony and even social pluralism,” said Habib Saqqaf.
Therefore, Habib Saqqaf ibn Mahdi condemn strongly to terrorist acts that often hit Indonesia, even recently emerged a new modus operandi with the robbery of the bank’s assets. This kind of action was so contrary to the teachings of Islam and harm the nation. That is why the state needs to act decisively for the sake of realizing the rule of law and justice. I’m Muslim. I grew up in a Muslim family and environment. I’ve also been educated in Islamic schools, but I never agree with any forms of terrorism and with any kinds of reason: jihad, war against US, etc. Islam is Rahmatan Lil ‘Alalamin, rahmat for all creatures in the universe.
yup.. its absolutely true, but Islam must remain firm against the misguidance and tyranny.
and we have to pay attention carefully that with the issue of terrorism, the enemy of Islam will be more on velvet and moslems will be more weaker.
