Quantum of Solace James Bond New Film

The latest James Bond film, Quantum of Solace, sees the British super spy out for revenge on a mission that takes him to Austria, Italy and South America.

British actor Daniel Craig is back with a license to kill after critics and cinema-goers hailed his debut as agent 007 in “Casino Royale” in 2006, and the first blond Bond looks set to continue the role longer term.

When I made a personal review and prediction on Daniel Craig’s James Bond debut in my blogspot blog (now deleted) many female readers disagree, particularly this following words:

For those who have been the zealot followers of James Bond movies with all its images the film (and the novel from which it emanates) carry, the director’s pick of actor Daniel Craig is questionable. Craig is, frankly speaking, not an attractive looking guy to be able to attract a woman attention in the first sight; nor has he got a flamboyant, elegant and/or cool look as his most predecessors have that successfully drives many women fans around the world. I’ve never read any survey on how many percent of James Bond fans from the gender perspective; but I dare to say, most of them are women.

A female reader commented thus:

You’re making the mistake of trying to speak for all women. Since the release of “CASINO ROYALE”, Daniel Craig has become something of a sex symbol . . . especially for women. He may not be amongst the most handsome of men, but he is good looking and charasmatic enough to attract the attention of a lot of females

Weeks after Casino Royale being released around the world, Daniel Craig was hailed, even by Pierce Brossnan, as one of the best James Bond actor.

A couple of weeks after I wrote the above review, I watched the Casino Royale along with some friends. Unfortunately, I was not impressed. Neither Daniel nor the Jacky Chan-like-script impressed me. (I am a big fan of Jacky Chan movies, but not when it’s “embedded” in James Bond’s movies).

Daniel performs pretty well, no doubt about that. But it’s hard to appreciate him when you have read the Ian Fleming’s James Bond novels and have a deep imagination of what James Bond looks like. I think he would get a lot more appreciation if he performs the same acts in a film whithout bringing a James Bond logo.

With so many praises and appreciation to Daniel Craig, I wonder if I am the only James Bond fans who dislike him. Are you James Bond film fans and do you like Daniel Craig act in Casino Royale or do you like him as a James Bond?

Last but not the least, I still am eager to wacth James Bond’sQuantum of Solace when it’s released in Indonesia. In the form of Daniel Craig notwithstanding.
