Belgian police arrest 14 Al-Qaeda suspects

Belgian police have detained 14 people suspected of having links with al-Qaida, including three thought to have been planning an imminent attack.

The New York Times reports that an uknown group calling itself the Deccan Mujahedeen said it had carried out the attacks. It was not known who the group is or whether the claim was real.

Rashid Rauf was linked to al-Qaeda’s number two Ayman al-Zawahiri

 A British al-Qaeda suspect reportedly killed by a US missile strike in a Pakistani tribal area was linked to the group’s second-in-command, Ayman al-Zawahiri, according to officials

Rashid Rauf and a Saudi militant called Abu Zubair al-Masri were among five killed in a missile attack in North Waziristan on Saturday.

Rauf, a British national, was alleged to have been the mastermind of an al-Qaeda plot to blow up passenger aircraft in mid-air after they left London bound for the United States. more.

US Muslim leaders denounce al Qaeda’s slur toward Obama

Spiritual leaders of New York’s African-American Muslim communities lashed out Friday at a purported al Qaeda message attacking President-elect Barack Obama and, using racist language, comparing him unfavorably to the late Malcolm X.  I like this and couldn’t agree more. All Muslim, specially the leaders, should categorically condemn any inappropiate conducts by their Muslim counterparts before blaming others. Self-criticism is the virtue done by those who want to progress be it nation, ethnic, or religious followers.
