Quran Burning Cancelled?

The Quran burning which suppose to happen today is likely off. It it’s true, Terry Jones has successfully make his own signature with this brouhaha

A Texas evangelist working with the Rev. Terry Jones today gave assurances that no Qurans will be set ablaze Saturday, even though there had been no contact with the New York City imam planning to build a mosque near the site of the 9/11 attacks.

“I can tell you 100 percent Pastor Jones will not burn the Quran tomorrow,” evangelist Kilari Anand Paul told the Orlando Sentinel outside the Dove World Outreach Center. “There will be no Quran burning. Otherwise I would not be here.” However, asked whether that meant Jones had abandoned the idea, Paul said, “I cannot speak for the future.”

American Church Will Go Ahead Burning Quran on 911

An American church to go ahead with Sept. 11 2010  Quran burning. Well, three days to go.

A Christian minister vowed Tuesday to go ahead with plans to burn copies of the Quran to protest the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks despite warnings from the White House and the top U.S. general in Afghanistan that he would endanger American troops overseas.

Pastor Terry Jones of the Dove World Outreach Center, which has about 50 members, said he understands the government’s concerns but plans to go forward with the burning Saturday to mark the ninth anniversary of the attacks.

He left the door open to change his mind, saying he is still praying about his decision, which was condemned Tuesday by an interfaith coalition that met in Washington to respond to a spike in anti-Muslim bigotry.

Women March Topless for Equality in Maine USA

Huffington Post (HP) reports a dozen of women in Maine, a state in the New England region of the northeastern United States, holds a demo demanding to be accepted socially if they are walking around without a bra. It’s already legal of doing so under the local law. In short, the women just want this: if men can go topless during summer and are accepted socially, why women cannot?

Nearly two dozen of them marched topless through this college town to protest what they call a double standard that allows men to take off their shirts on a hot summer day. Many men joined the women, taking off their shirts and marching side by side. Joining the scrum were gawkers snapping photos.

It’s already legal under state law for women to go topless in public in Maine. But the protesters in Farmington want it to become socially acceptable, too.

Most commenters of HP in the post, which is predominantly men, undoubtely agree to what the women protesters want. However, there’s one comment nicknamed PCMinistry, which have a bit different point of view on this topless protester. He’s different in the sense that he’s more honest on motivation behind his agreement to what the women are protesting i.e. the sexual drive of men towards women’s flesh; not hiding behind the freedom of expression or other “scientific” reason:

I love that more and more the expressions of feminism that I see all seem to be geared towards satisfying my wishes as a man. Girls sleep around now and convince themselves it’s about empowerment? Hey, I’m all for that. They want to take their clothes off? Sounds good to me. If I was a woman though, I might question what seems like the movement simply creating a reasoning behind following their own base urges to begin with. It’s a primitization. As a man with my own base urges to think about I love it, and at least I’m being honest about my motives.
