Continue Reading »Everyone in the universe must’ve been very familiar or at least ever heard of such popular names as Mc Donald (McD), KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken), Nokia, Sony, Pepsodent, and many other international brands. All the brands barely talk about themselves, not to say about their respective countries. But almost every single person knows where those brands come from. America world-widely known at least for its McD and KFC, and Japan for its Sony, Toyota, Honda, etc. As far as I am concerned, these international brands have successfully bridged world understanding towards the countries they belong without even a word of explanation.
Continue Reading »Indrani has many first attributes here as Blogger Indonesia of the Week and as a lot of other things. First, Indrani is not a name of a person who own the blog, rather it’s an abbreviation of a couple names that is Indi and Rani. As far as I am concerned it’s the first couple who are blogging at the same blog address and posting randomly and therefore the first case where I make a blogger of the week out of two persons!
Second, Rani is the first blogger whose one of its blog content has been fully quoted and published by the only English-speaking Indonesian newspaper The Jakarta Post. Some lessons can be drawn from this:

There are at least top ten reasons on why an Indonesian blogger should blog in English. If you run a Bahasa Indonesia blog, like I do, you should have an English speaking blog as well. Here’s why:
1. My English writing skill is not good. I’d like to improve it by writing regularly in a medium where editorial barrier does not exist.
2. English is undoubtedly understood –though not necessarily spoken or written–by many, if not by most, influential people in the world. Hence larger audience, more visibility and influence of some sort.
3. Most internet-literate Indonesians understand English. Using English in my blog, therefore, does not hinder Indonesian readers to appreciate what I’d intend to convey to them, my primary audience.
