Amazon on Monday launched a version of the Kindle Store optimized for Apple’s iPhone and iPod Touch, the latest indication that the online retailer is taking a multiplatform strategy in selling electronic books.

Amazon has modified the Kindle Store, so people accessing it through the Amazon application for the devices will get an interface tailored for the size and shape of their touch screens. Amazon offers its application for free through Apple’s App store.

Trying to expand its book sales, Amazon.com Inc. released a free application Wednesday that lets iPhone and iPod Touch users read electronic books purchased at the e-commerce giant’s Kindle online bookstore.

Amazon.com released Kindle for iPhone late Tuesday night, providing iPhone users with the ability to read more than 240000 Kindle-formatted books from Amazon’s e-book library.

Despite I’m interested to buy the 16 Gb smartphone, I’m not interested to sit down in queue by filling up the waiting form. I think I’m better off patiently waiting until it’s available in Telkomsel outlet near me.

Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (WMT) said Friday it will begin selling Apple’s (AAPL) iPhone 3G starting Sunday, but not at the dramatic discount some had expected.

The retailer said it would sell the eight-gigabyte iPhone 3G for $197 and the 16 GB model for $297. Prices are for phones with a new two-year service agreement with AT&T (T) or with a qualified upgrade, the retailer said in a brief statement on its Web site.

The prices Wal-Mart announced Friday are in line with iPhone 3G prices elsewhere, which should put to rest rumors the retailer known for selling low- cost items would also be dramatically discounting the iPhone.
