Even Rolls-Royce Develops Electric Car

You’re wrong if you’d think that a big, heavy Rolls-Royce would be the last car to be a candidate for electric power. AFP reports

The first electric-powered Rolls-Royce car will be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show on March 1, the luxury vehicle maker announced on Sunday.

The one-off Phantom 102EX, to be fully electric-powered, will then go on a global tour taking in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and North America, according to the Goodwood, England-based company.

?We have engineered the world?s first battery electric vehicle for the ultra-luxury segment,? chief executive Torsten Muller-Otvos said. ?With this vehicle, we begin an exploration into alternative drive-trains, seeking clarity on which alternative technologies may be suitable to drive Rolls-Royce motor cars of the future.?

Facebook Could Make You Feel Stressed

I use Facebook as a tool to invite traffic to my site / blog I run.  Luckily, I hardly stay in front of my Facebook’s account looking idly at the rolling of my friends newsfeed. So, I am not feel stressed with Facebook. How about you? If you are online just to open your FB account, you could be one those Facebook victims!

Having lots of friends on social network Facebook can make web users feel stressed, say researchers from the Edinburgh Napier University.

Research by psychologists at the university revealed nearly a third (32 percent) of social networkers experience feelings of guilt and discomfort when rejecting friend requests, while 63 percent delayed responding to them and 10 percent admitted disliking receiving friend requests.

According to Dr Kathy Charles, who headed up the research, “the results threw up a number of paradoxes.”

“For instance, although there is great pressure to be on Facebook there is also considerable ambivalence amongst users about its benefits,” she said.

… The research also highlighted that those with the most contacts of Facebook and those who had invested the most time in the site were the ones most likely to be stressed.

AOL buys Huffington Post for $315 million

The Huffington Post is the most influential blog in US, according to the Guardian. The highly trafficed blog (currently on 140 on Alexa rank) is bought by AOL.
Time magazine reports

The Huffington Post announced Monday that AOL will acquire the website for $315 million.

Arianna Huffington, for whom the site is named, will become the president and editor-in-chief of the newly created Huffington Post Media Group. The media group will encompass some of AOL’s most popular brands such as Engadget, TechCrunch, Moviefone, MapQuest and StyleList. The combined network will supposedly reach up to an audience of 270 million.

The Guardian newspaper calls the acquisition as “unfortunate”:

What the hell is AOL doing?

More to the point, what is Arianna Huffington doing, selling Huffington Post to AOL for $315m?

AOL’s grubby hands have long been groping the bright stars of the web, hoping a little of that stardust might rub off. Buying Huffington Post – the most impressive, most editorially distinctive independent name on the web – is a high-profile ego buy for AOL chief executive Tim Armstrong. Under his attempt to reinvent AOL as “the most influential company in the content space”, he’s just committed $300m in cash and $15m in stock to the deal.
