Thank You Mahkamah Konstitusi!

Media Indonesia, one of Indonesia leading newspapers, highly appreciates and says ‘thank you’ to Mahkamah Konstitusi (Constitutional Court) or MK especially its chief, Mahfud MD, for the playing of a recording at the Constitutional Court on Tuesday 3/10/09.
As JP reports, ‘the recording contains conversations that allegedly showed the fabrication of evidence conducted between several high ranking officials from the National Police and the Attorney Generals’ Office (AGO) and the younger brother of graft fugitive Anggoro Widjojo, Anggodo Widjojo, so as to incriminate and detain two KPK deputy chairmen, Chandra M. Hamzah and Bibit Samad Rianto.
The contents of the recording, which suggested a possible assassination plot against Chandra, while also suggesting that President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono may have been aware of the incrimination scandal, have astonished the public and ignited anger against both the police and the AGO.’
We, as citizen, also should express our grateful and support to the judges in MK for the gut they’ve shown to display the recording to public despite disapproval from Minister Patrialis Akbar (of Law and Humn Rights). MK along with KPK has shown its independence and pro-people attitude so far.
The recordings has forced two high rank official in Attorney General (Kejaksaan) and Police Dept. to resign (actually, they were asked to go)

Of course, this is not the end of the drama between Cicak & Buaya (lizard and crocodile). In facts, it’s the beginning. The independent team called Team 8 will not only investigate and give recomendation on the KPK issue to the President. More than that, it will recommend President Sby to reform Police Dept. and Attorney General office as being requested by many activist and law experts. Some of the Tim 8 recommendation such as the resignation of Susno Duadji (ranked #3 in police headquarter) and deputy attorney general had been met. We hope all the recommendation from Tim 8 will be met by President. Student demonstration has been pivotal on this Tim 8 to emerge in the first place and their advices to be met. But the role of MK has been very very important to make the crocodile naked before the public eyes.

I’m not fully defending KPK. Though they’re working for a noble cause, they’re humans subject to errors and mistakes. But it doesn’t necessarily I entirely support our national police. Some of them have brought so much disgrace to this country’s image.

The corruption scandal in Indonesia is very remarkable. Actually, all government officers who involved in corroptin scandal are rich enough, thus this is a matter of bad behaviour.
That is way they should be punish and put them in the jail.

There is fact that the playing of a recording at the Constitutional Court created a terrible impact both to the Police and Judge performance.
This condition will attract people not to trust both polisi and judge. They will ask President to create the Fact finding when they feel the Police and Judge don’t show good performance in investigating a case.

#dont worry about it. time for police and kejaksaan to restrospect. the mounting demonstration is due to one thing: the zero trust to legal apparatus in indonesia. indonesians are skeptic about them. they go to street protests this time around because they feel prosecuting bibit/chandra who are people feel innocent is too much.
be rest assured, people keep quiet before didn’t mean they don’t know about legal / judicial mafia. they know. but they just dont care. not this time when kPK from which institution many people have their hopes of better indonesia is ‘distracted’ by police and (maybe) kejaksaan (attorney general)

I’d like to write down my answers to your questions..
1. I’m not satisfied indeed to the president’s performance on this case. I have my own reasons, too long to be explained here.
2. Kapolri must be fired
3. Kejagung must be fired also
4. To reform Polri, fired all Police personels and recruit new, the recruitment must be clean from money, because all of us has known dilapidation in this institution, from Kopral to the General..(that has become an open secret) and also do the same on Kejaksaan.
5. All names mentioned in the tapes must be fired and investigated
6. DPR have to investigate President SBY as his name was also mentioned on the tape, but the next quetion is: who are DPR? I don’t believe them, so that I become Golongan Putih.
