VP Candidate Pick Angers Indonesia Islamic Parties
Uncharacteristically SBY who’s been careful and doubtful everytime to take decision, this time he’s unfazed with the Islamic parties’ threat to pull out of coalitiion if he insists to pick Boediono as candidate of vice president for presidential election come July 2009. Reports IOL:
President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono’s decision to name Central Bank Governor Boediono as his vice-president candidate for the July vote has infuriated Islamic parties and threaten their anticipated coalition.
“It would be wiser and ethical if he put someone from within on the ticket,” Irgan Chairul Mahfiz, the secretary general of the United Development Party (PPP), told IslamOnline.net on Wednesday, May 13.Yudhoyono named on Tuesday, May 12, the central bank governor to be his running mate in the July presidential vote.
This is actually ridiculous. Those parties often said that it was up to SBY to choose his running mate, and now they complained. Another saber-rattling? Maybe. PKS did it before when Demokrat wanted to ask Golkar to join the coalition.

#indeed. that’s predictable. PKS has lost its credibility among two segment of its main supporters: reformist and islamist. The elite party workers are no longer clean from corrupt scandal or at least from extravagant lives -> a step away towards corruption . among Islamist, it’s no longer regarded as Islamist enough. it’s no more than a seeker-after-power party.
No matter the consequences, the mother of politic’s ideology are always the same and immortal, which is there is no eternal friends, but there is a long lasting interests.
