Many friends of mine asked me why I study in India which means why not the US, UK, Australia, etc? Are the Indian universities are better than, say, the US universities?
For those who have the same questions, these are my answers (and please dont ask me again next time we meet… :> )
1. Indian colleges/universities mostly are below those of developed countries in terms of modern infrastructures and qualities, but not so much. in other words, they still have competitive edges compared to those universities in developed countries. yet, they still have an edge compared to the other developing countries universities, like, say, Indonesia.
2. The university fee and living cost are much lower than in developed countries;
3. Easy entrance. most indian universities have certain quotas for foreign students (IITs is an exception)who want to pursue studies in india;
4. Easy scholarship. Scholarship is easier gotten. the procedure to get it is much simpler. (the scholarship slot for indonesian is 20, the applicants is around 40). You are not required TOEFL to get entry into indian universities and to get scholarship. besides, you dont need any recommendation from any indonesian university or institution to apply scholarship to india (anybody can tell me which country has so much easy procedure than india?).
5. many indian universities got international acknowledgement in the field of science and non-science courses. Microsoft, for example, recruit many of its new manager and employee from Indian IIT (indian institute of technology) every year.
Hope this simple explanation can serve your curiosity.
